So throughout reading Nectar In A Sieve I stumbled upon something that just stuck with me until I finished the book.
Truth.
The cold, hard, honest truth.
This book and Ruku's life shows the truth about how people lived in India in these times. How little they worked for, how little they lived on, how they learned to survive on the little they had.
After reading this book I learned that truth it is Hindu belief that 'truth transcends over all other moral values.'
I 100% believe that is true and Ruku gives a perfect example of that. Ruku always remains true to herself, and that is the most important way to be truthful. In all the tragedies that Ruku had faced she always remained truthful to her old, traditional ways.
